Halcyon is a family-owned business with a 30-year legacy in high-performance lighting. While their products are trusted by specifiers, architects, electricians and homeowners, the website hadn’t kept pace. The goal was to build a digital experience as considered, capable and enduring as the products themselves.
Our strategy was to deliver clarity at scale. Product discovery and specification needed to be fast, intuitive and non-linear, while supporting different audience needs across trade and residential. An experience feature was the introduction of circadian rhythm mode, where the interface shifts tones based on the time of day, season and user hemisphere. This created a digital rhythm that reflects how lighting functions in real environments, reinforcing Halcyon’s commitment to context, quality and relevance.The site also sets the foundations for future growth - all supplier accounts are synced to a database that will grow to match customers with specialists who will ease the path from light sections to install.
Rooted in Swiss modernism, the site combines precision with visual restraint. Bright greens and disjointed UI from the previous site were replaced with a minimalist palette of black, white and neutral tonal shifts.
Typography is functional and refined, helping to create a calm, structured experience. The circadian rhythm mode subtly reskins the interface across different times of day, bringing warmth in the evening, coolness in the morning and tonal grounding throughout.Navigation was rebuilt around discoverability.
A four-step product finder intelligently narrows choices, while dynamic links and truncated category menus simplify browsing. Users can compare up to six products, save them to projects or wishlists, and generate detailed quotes.
Product groups are logically presented and complex configurations are made easier to explore, supported by layered filtering and clear spec sheets.
Tiered pricing and quoting tools support different B2B user types, from wholesalers to specifiers, electricians and designers. Every detail is built to support clarity and reduce friction, while positioning Halcyon in their true light.
The Halcyon site goes beyond being a product catalogue. It is a working tool, a configurator and a source of inspiration. Features like project builders, quote workflows and wishlists connect customers to their work in real time, while also creating a feedback loop for Halcyon to understand usage.
The system encourages user contributions, such as project imagery, and scales with the brand. It has transformed a once-static site into an operational asset and marketing platform, helping Halcyon communicate, quote and grow with precision.
